TWO DUMPSTER FIRE CALLS AMONG 10 RESPONSES WEDNESDAY FOR BRENHAM FD
The Brenham Fire Department responded to 10 calls on Wednesday and one early this (Thursday) morning.
A few minutes after noon on Wednesday, firefighters were called out to a crash in the 100 block of West Alamo Street. They found a one-vehicle accident and provided traffic control until Brenham police arrived and released them from the scene.
Around 1 p.m., the department received a report of a crash in the 4700 block of FM 50, but was cancelled while enroute.
At roughly 3:30 p.m., units were dispatched for a fire investigation at Bush’s Chicken, 2749 Highway 36 South. They found that a transformer was having issues and stood by until Bluebonnet Electric made location.
Close to 4:15 p.m., BFD members went out to a structure fire at Pooltex American, 319 South Austin Street. There, they found a dumpster fire on the side of the building and used water to extinguish the fire.
Two more calls came in at around the same time, those being a fire alarm at Kruse Village, 1700 East Stone Street, and a grass fire in the 300 block of All Jersey Road. For the alarm call, units determined the alarm was malfunctioning, while the department was cancelled while on the way to the grass fire.
A report of a rescue was called in at 4:30 p.m. in the 10000 block of Riverside Plantation Lane, but units were cancelled enroute.
Shortly after 6:15 p.m., BFD personnel responded to a fire alarm at the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South, but they found it to be a false alarm.
Approaching 6:45 p.m., firefighters were called out to a dumpster fire in the 1900 block of Northview Circle Drive. They discovered light smoke coming from a dumpster and used a hose line to extinguish the dumpster.
Just shy of 10:45 p.m., a structure fire was reported in the 800 block of Glen Drive. The department found nothing showing from a single-story residence, but inside, units found a light haze from burnt food, so they used a positive pressure ventilation fan to remove the haze.
Shortly after midnight today, the Brenham Fire Department and Salem Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 700 block of Old Phillipsburg Lane. A single-story residence had nothing showing from the outside, but firefighters discovered a light haze in the home from the microwave that was on fire. They ventilated the home with a positive pressure ventilation fan before returning to service.
