The Brenham Cub Football Team improved to 2-0 on the season with last (Thursday) night's trouncing of Houston Sterling 49-8.

The Cubs scored early and often, which led to a 35-0 lead at halftime. In the second half, with the lopsided score, the clock was allowed to keep running and the game finished in just a little over two hours.

Brenham used both of their quarterbacks, Hudson Hartstack and Xyran Upshaw. Hartstack was 4 of 6 passing for 83 yards and an interception. Upshaw was 4 of 6 passing for 59 yards and one touchdown. Upshaw also had a six-yard rushing touchdown.

RB C.J. Glover had another big game with nine carries for 88 yards and four touchdowns. Three of his four touchdowns came in the first half. He later gave way to Tre Taylor in the second half, who carried the ball five times for 33 yards, and a touchdown.

Chris Guidry hauled in four passes for 65 yards and a touchdown. With that total, he moved past Limas Sweed for second place on the Cubs' career receiving yardage. He needs only 74 yards to pass Brandon Collins for first place.

The Brenham defense had another big outing as they held Sterling to just 116 yards of total offense.

Next up, the Cubs return home to host the Bryan Vikings on Friday, September 12, at Cub Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7pm. KWHI will have live coverage beginning with the pregame at 6:30pm on 1280AM, 101.7FM, and KWHI.com.
