NAVASOTA POLICE MAKE EARLY MORNING ARREST ON MONDAY
Navasota Police arrested a suspect with an outstanding felony warrant following a brief search and foot pursuit this (Monday) morning in the Pecan Lakes subdivision.
At approximately 9:00 a.m., officers responded to a call in the 2000 block of Spyglass Drive after a resident reported that a former male acquaintance was attempting to gain entry into the residence.
The caller also informed dispatch that the individual had an outstanding warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and reported that the suspect was walking around the backyard as officers were en route.
Upon arrival, the suspect fled the residence. Officers quickly secured the entry points into the subdivision while additional officers searched the surrounding area.
About thirty minutes later, officers spotted the suspect fleeing through a field near Champions Drive. A foot pursuit began and the suspect was apprehended using a Taser.
He was then taken into custody without further incident, and transported to the Grimes County Jail.
The suspect has been identified as 38-year-old Jessel Deorey Turner.
He has been charged with:
Warrant: Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (family member), a first degree felony
Falsification of drug test results
Evading Arrest on Foot with Previous Convictions
Possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 1
Possession of marijuana less than 2oz
and Resisting arrest
Navasota Police issued their thanks the resident who promptly contacted authorities and provided critical information that assisted officers in safely resolving the situation.
