FIVE ACCIDENT CALLS FRIDAY FOR BRENHAM FD

  

The Brenham Fire Department responded to multiple accident calls on Friday.

Firefighters provided traffic control at the scene of five crashes, including around 6:45 a.m. at Highway 36 North and North Park Street, at 12:15 p.m. in the 900 block of North Park Street, at 5 p.m. in the 600 block of West Alamo Street, close to 6:15 p.m. on South Blue Bell Road, and nearing 8:15 p.m. at West Main Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway.

According to the Brenham Fire Department, there were no medical transports from any of the accidents.

In other calls on Friday, firefighters were dispatched around 8:15 a.m. to a gas odor at a home in the 2700 block of Heather Glen Street.  Members of the fire department and City of Brenham Gas Department checked the area for a leak or smell, and after investigation, the fire department was released from the scene.

At 9:30 a.m., the Brenham Fire Department and Berlin Volunteer Fire Department were called out for a smoke investigation at a home in the 100 block of Shady Acres Lane.  They found a light haze inside the home and provided ventilation throughout the house.

A fire alarm was called in just after 3:45 p.m. from a residence in the 600 block of Sabine Street.  Bad batteries were found in the smoke detector. 

Units responded to another fire alarm a few minutes before 11:45 p.m. at a home in the 800 block of West Second Street.  The smoke detector was determined to be malfunctioning.

The Brenham Fire Department also had two calls early this (Saturday) morning, including a gas odor around 12:15 a.m. at a home in the 1400 block of Clay Street.  Firefighters and the city gas department checked the area for a leak or smell, and the fire department was ultimately released from the call. 

Just shy of 12:45 a.m., a vehicle fire was reported in the 2600 block of Highway 36 South, but no fire was found upon the department’s arrival.
