PANTHERS RALLY TO DEFEAT HEARNE 27-25

The Burton Panther Football Team came from behind to defeat the Hearne Eagles 27-25 last night at Panthers Stadium.

Things got off to a good start as Kayden Patterson got Burton on the board with a five-yard touchdown run. Rueben Rodriguez added the extra point to give the Panthers an early 7-0 lead.

Hearne came back with a touchdown, but missed the PAT. However, Burton's lead was down to 7-6.

Neither team found the end zone in the second quarter.

To start what would end up being a wild third quarter, Hearne came out with three straight touchdowns to take a 25-7 lead.

Eli Simank responded with an 87-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. The extra point was missed, but Burton had cut the Hearne lead to 25-13.

Later in the quarter, Simank hauled in a 41-yard touchdown pass from Patterson. The Panthers missed the extra point, but cut the lead to 25-19.

In the fourth quarter, Patterson scored his second rushing touchdown of the night on a 12-yard run, and Braydon Martin ran in the two-point conversion to put Burton in front to stay 27-25.

The win improves Burton to 2-0 on the season. Next up, they will host Schulenburg in their final non-district game on Friday at 7pm at Panther Stadium.
