In a notice shared around 3:15 p.m. on social media, the Brenham Fire Department said all of its trucks and crews responded, along with members of the Chappell Hill, Meyersville, and Salem Volunteer Fire Departments.

The Brenham Police Department, Washington County EMS and the Texas Division of Emergency Management also assisted on scene, as well as the Washington County CERT Team.

The Brenham Fire Department said at 4:30 p.m. that the fire had not spread beyond the containment lines, and there was approximately an acre of material burning.

Firefighters worked through the night to put out hotspots.  As of 6:30 a.m. today (Friday), the department said the majority of the fire had been extinguished, but some units were still on scene as of this morning.

No injuries have been reported.

The fire was one of four calls for the Brenham Fire Department on Thursday.

Just shy of 8:15 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to a gas odor in the 1600 block of South Blue Bell Road.  They made location and stood by until the City of Brenham Gas Department arrived.

At 1:45 p.m., the department went out to a crash in the 2300 block of Strangmeier Road.  There were no injuries and no other issues, so units cleared the call.

Another crash was reported at 6:15 p.m. at Highway 36 South and FM 109.  BFD members found a two-vehicle crash and provided traffic control until both vehicles were removed from the roadway.  No word was available on any injuries.

The department also responded just before 2 a.m. today to a crash in the 1500 block of Highway 36 North.  Units checked and found everything okay, so they returned to service.  There were no injuries.
