BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL ACCEPTS BID FOR VEGETATION MANAGEMENT SERVICES
The Brenham City Council accepted a bid today (Thursday) for tree trimming and vegetation management services.

Manager Jared Beckendorf speaks to the Brenham
City Council on Thursday about the bids received
for tree trimming and vegetation management
services.
The bid from Vegetation Management Services of Seguin was the lowest of five bids received for the project.
Utility Project and Warehouse Manager Jared Beckendorf said the work to mitigate encroaching vegetation is a major part of the city’s efforts to keep the electric system reliable, the public safe, and the risk of power outages to a minimum.
The bid was originally submitted at $226,814, but the council accepted a reduced bid for $148,120. Beckendorf said the lower price is due to the cost for the original scope of work for four electric distribution circuits coming in over budget.
Also at today’s meeting, the council:
- Received an update on Brenham Municipal Airport operations and engineering projects.
- Approved appointments to the Brenham Community Projects Fund Board of Directors. The only change was for the secretary/assistant treasurer position held by former City Manager Carolyn Miller; Megan Mainer was appointed to the position.
- Approved an amendment to the city’s 2025-26 budget. Chief Financial Officer Julie Flagg said the amendment reflects budget items moved from the 2024-25 Fiscal Year to the 2025-26 Fiscal Year, donations received, funding for the first phase of the Brenham Family Park, and other expenditures not included in the adopted budget.
- Held executive session discussion on an amendment to the wholesale power agreement with the Lower Colorado River Authority and the transition to a new city manager. No action was scheduled to be taken.
