Lange said this has been an incredible experience and that this moment is the result of hard work and dedication.

Runner-up for fair queen was Amirah Byrd, a senior at Brenham High School representing the Brenham Anchor Club.  Byrd is the daughter of Sherika and Bennie Byrd and the granddaughter of Demetria Patridge and Lyndon Mathis.

Maddie Brumbelow won the essay contest and the interview contest, and was the recipient of two $1,000 scholarships.  Brumbelow is a senior at Brenham High School and is representing Brenham High School Cheer.  She is the daughter of Stacy and Ted Ferretti and Darren and Terri Brumbelow, and the granddaughter of Maxine and Chester Ruether and Bruce Brumbelow.

The three candidates collectively sold over 3,600 tickets for over $181,000.

Earlier on Saturday, the Washington County Fair parade rolled through downtown Brenham.  Many more events are planned throughout the coming week at the Washington County Expo, including the naming of the Little and Junior Mister and Miss on Wednesday.
