EIGHT ARRESTED BY SHERIFF’S OFFICE ON CHARGES INCLUDING RESISTING ARREST, INTOXICATION

  

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reported eight arrests between Thursday and early this (Tuesday) morning.

Shortly after 10:15 a.m. Thursday, Corporal Albert Vasquez initiated a traffic stop in the 4000 block of Highway 290 East for no front license plate.  The sheriff’s office says the driver did not have a driver’s license nor any proof of insurance for the vehicle.  23-year-old Manuel Eduardo Canizales Rico of Arlington was transported to the Washington County Jail for No Driver’s License and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility.

Just past midnight on Friday, Corporal Rosa Salinas conducted a traffic stop in the 4400 block of Highway 290 East for an expired temporary license tag.  The driver was placed under arrest for not having a driver’s license or vehicle insurance.  29-year-old Javier Enrique Santos-Orellana of Austin is charged with No Driver’s License and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility. 

A few minutes after 3 a.m., Corporal Adam Zavala conducted a traffic stop near Briscoe Street and Navarro Drive for speeding.  The driver reportedly displayed signs of intoxication and, after further investigation, was taken into custody.  17-year-old Leonard Aurelio Barrera IV of Brenham was transported to the Washington County Jail for Driving While Intoxicated with an Open Container.

Around 4:15 a.m. Saturday, Corporal Eric Crosby checked on a suspicious vehicle parked in the 5300 block of Highway 290 East.  The occupant of the vehicle, identified as 45-year-old Asonya Kolesa Crawford of Somerville, was found to have active warrants.  Crawford was booked at the Washington County Jail for Driving While License Invalid and Possession of an Open Alcoholic Beverage in a Motor Vehicle.

Around 9:45 p.m., Deputy Matthew Brown observed a reportedly intoxicated person attempting to drive off in their vehicle from a location in the 8700 block of Highway 290 East.  The sheriff’s office said after some resistance, 27-year-old Elmer Misael Rodriguez Galindo, address unknown, was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail for Public Intoxication and Resisting Arrest.

At 6:15 a.m. Sunday, Corporal Crosby conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of South Blue Bell Road for an equipment violation.  The driver, 47-year-old Geronimo Ali Hickey of Brenham, was found to have an active warrant and was transported to the Washington County Jail on a charge of Driving While License Invalid Enhanced.

Close to 7 a.m. Monday, Deputy Christopher Holmes was dispatched to a vehicle fire at Highway 290 East and FM 2679.  Upon arriving at the scene, the sheriff’s office learned that the driver, 20-year-old Xavier Alonzo Harris of Bellville, had outstanding warrants.  Harris was booked at the Washington County Jail for two counts of Forgery of a Financial Instrument.

Shortly after 12:15 a.m. today, Corporal Salinas conducted a traffic stop in the 4700 block of Highway 290 East for an expired registration.  Upon making contact with the driver, the sheriff’s office detected an odor of marijuana, which was located during a search of the vehicle.  The driver, 28-year-old Mikayla Anne Miller of Houston, was arrested and taken to the Washington County Jail for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Marijuana Under 2oz.
