FINAL CHAPPELL HILL SCARECROW FESTIVAL THIS WEEKEND

The town of Chappell Hill will greet thousands of visitors this weekend for the 48th – and what appears to be the final – Scarecrow Festival.

(Eilish, KTEX-106)

Hosted by the Chappell Hill Historical Society, the fall festival happening tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday will have two full days of shopping, food and entertainment in downtown.  The festival is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. tomorrow and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Historical Society President Steve Trevino, speaking during Tuesday’s Community Corner on KWHI, said the costs associated with hosting the festival and the number of volunteers drove the decision to make this festival the last one.  However, discussions are underway to potentially bring it back in a different way in the future.

Trevino invites everyone to enjoy browsing through over 250 vendors selling a variety of items, food and drinks at the food court and biergarten, and games and a pumpkin patch in the kids’ court in the Poplar Lot.

Admission to the festival is free, and parking is $10.  Money raised will help the Historical Society preserve local historic buildings.

KTEX-106’s David and Cowboy Dave will have live reports from the festival tomorrow morning on KWHI and KTEX-106.
