CITY OF BRENHAM BEGINS WATER METER REPLACEMENT PROJECT

The City of Brenham is getting started on a project to replace water meters throughout the city’s water distribution system.

The city is contracting with Meter Matters on the two-phase project, which started on Monday with crews cleaning dirt and debris from inside 2,689 water meter boxes.  A hydro excavation machine is being used to remove material from inside each meter box, with work strictly contained to the meter box area.

Meter Matters will begin replacing the actual meters starting December 1st.  Property owners will receive a door hanger notice two days before their scheduled meter change-out.  The city says water service will be temporarily interrupted for approximately 30 minutes while the meter is being replaced.

The estimated timeframe for project completion is by late February.  No work will occur during the weeks of Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Anyone with questions or concerns can contact the City of Brenham Public Utilities Department at 979-337-7400.
