THREE ACCIDENTS, FIVE FIRE ALARMS AMONG WEEKEND CALLS FOR BRENHAM FD

The Brenham Fire Department responded to nine calls between Saturday and early this (Monday) morning.

Three of the calls were for accidents.  Two occurred on Saturday, with one at noon in the 3600 block of Highway 36 South and the second at 12:15 p.m. in the 1100 block of North Park Street.  The third accident took place just before noon on Sunday in the 1000 block of South Austin Street.

For each accident, firefighters provided traffic control and scene safety until the roadway was cleared.  The fire department did not have word on any possible injuries.

At 12:15 p.m. Saturday, the department was called out to the Fireman’s Training Center, 1101 Highway 290 West, for a report of a child locked in a vehicle.  Upon making location, units found the vehicle was unlocked.

The remaining five calls were for fire alarms, including around 12:15 a.m. Sunday at Blue Bell Creameries, 1101 South Blue Bell Road; close to 8:45 a.m. at Kruse Village, 1700 East Stone Street; shortly past 9:30 a.m. at a home in the 800 block of Brown Street; around 3:45 p.m. at the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South; and approaching 12:45 a.m. today at Melcher Hall, 601 Prairie Lea Street on the Blinn College campus.  The alarms were all the result of a malfunction, a bad detector or just an accident.
