BRENHAM FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDS TO FIVE CALLS ON THURSDAY

  

The Brenham Fire Department responded to five calls on Thursday.

The first call came in just after 7:15am. Brenham Firefighters were dispatched to the intersection of West Blue Bell Road and Ewing Street for a report of a transportation incident. They arrived to find a two-vehicle accident with no injuries. Firefighters stood by until the vehicles were cleared from the roadway, and then returned to service.

The second call came in at 10:45am. BFD units were dispatched to the 2100 Block of Wayside Street for a report of carbon monoxide inside a home. BFD members found that a gas valve was leaking. The City of Brenham Gas Department arrived at the scene to shut the gas off, and fire crews  returned to service.

Just after 3pm, the Brenham Fire Department was summoned to the scene of a three-vehicle traffic accident with injuries. The wrecked occurred in the 800 Block of South Chappell Hill Street. Firefighters assisted Washington County EMS with patient care, and stayed on the scene until the vehicles were removed from the roadway,

The next call sent Brenham FD units to the 1200 Block of South Market Street just after 3pm for a dumpster fire. BFD members found smoke coming from the dumpster, and used tank water to extinguish it.

The final call came in at 3:30pm in the 1000 Block of Barnhill Street for an alarm sounding. After investigating, Brenham Firefighters said it turned out to be a smoke detector that needed to be replaced.
