AUSTIN MAN CHARGED WITH DRUG, MARIJUANA POSSESSION
An Austin man was arrested by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday on drug and marijuana charges.

Shortly after 3 a.m., Sergeant Adam Zavala conducted a traffic stop for speeding in the 10600 block of Highway 290 East.
The sheriff’s office reported detecting drug paraphernalia and an odor of marijuana upon making contact, so it conducted a search of the vehicle.
A passenger, identified as 18-year-old Christopher Emmanuel Silva-Martinez, was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail for booking. Silva-Martinez was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana Under 2oz. and Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 2, Less Than a Gram.
