WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO POTENTIALLY ADOPT STRATEGIC PLAN

Washington County Commissioners will take up action on Tuesday on adopting a new strategic plan.

The county has coordinated with Strategic Government Resources (SGR) since last summer to develop a strategic plan for 2026 to 2030.  The process has included discussions with county staff, as well as local citizens and officials, in order to guide the county’s goals for the next five years.

Per the plan included in the agenda packet, the county’s top priorities are infrastructure, economic development, growth management, public health and safety, and operational effectiveness.

In other items, the court will hear the Washington County Historical Commission’s 2025 report, reviewing the commission’s past year of programs and initiatives.

Commissioners will also consider accepting a Help America Vote Act (HAVA) election security grant in the amount of $87,411, with required local matching funds of $17,482.

Additional business will cover the possible conversion of the Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 clerk position from part-time to full-time and a final plat for the Maplewood subdivision, consisting of 12 lots along FM 2935 in Precinct 3.

Commissioners will meet Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse.

Commissioners will meet again on Wednesday for discussion and possible action on relocating the payroll benefits specialist position from the county treasurer’s office to the human resources department for Fiscal Year 2026.  The meeting will be held at 10 a.m. at the courthouse.
