The National Weather Service’s Houston/Galveston office said in an early outlook on Monday that the front is currently forecasted to come through late Friday into Saturday morning.
Predictions for sub-freezing temperatures across Southeast Texas are increasing for Saturday night and Sunday night, including the chances for a hard freeze in the Brazos Valley. Additionally, the cold air is expected to overlap with lingering moisture behind the cold front, so there is potential for freezing rain or sleet from Saturday into Sunday morning.
The City of Brenham on Monday said it is monitoring activity with state and local weather partners. It cautioned that the timing for the cold front’s arrival is still in question and may move up sooner, as cold, shallow dense arctic masses often arrive earlier than first indicated.
The city said it expects travel across much of Texas will become difficult as early as late Friday evening and potentially into the weekend.
