DECEMBER UNEMPLOYMENT RATES DOWN IN AREA
Unemployment rates fell across the region to end 2025.
According to data from the Texas Workforce Commission, Washington County’s unemployment rate sat at 3.4 percent for the month of December, down from 3.7 percent for the month of November.
Washington County reported 609 unemployed residents in December, down from 677 in November.
Overall employment numbers and the total civilian labor force were also down from month to month. Employment fell from 17,579 in November to 17,565 in December, while the labor force dropped from 18,256 to 18,174 over that time.
In December 2024, Washington County’s jobless rate was 3.3 percent, with 584 people out of work.
The state’s adjusted unemployment rate grew from 4.2 percent in November to 4.3 percent in December.
Around the area, jobless rates include:
- Austin County – 3.6 percent, down from 4 percent in November.
- Brazos County – 3 percent, down from 3.3 percent.
- Burleson County – 3.2 percent, down from 3.5 percent.
- Colorado County – 3.4 percent, down from 3.9 percent.
- Fayette County – 3.5 percent, down from 3.9 percent in November.
- Grimes County – 4.3 percent, down from 4.5 percent.
- Lee County – 3.2 percent, down from 3.5 percent.
- Waller County – 4.9 percent, down from 5.1 percent.
