The Blinn women’s basketball team came up short in a hard-fought 60-50 Region 14 home loss to No. 11 Trinity Valley Community College on Tuesday at the Kruse Center in Brenham, Texas.

“We were very competitive and gave tremendous effort, but when you turn the ball over too many times against the best team in the league, it ruins the chance for an upset,” Buccaneers head coach Jeff Jenkins said. “We can definitely learn from this, and games like this one will make us better in March.”

Blinn (14-8, 4-2 Region 14) hung tough with the region-leading Cardinals for 40 minutes.

The Bucs were ahead 17-13 after the first quarter before Trinity Valley grabbed a slim 32-29 edge by halftime.

The Cardinals found some space in the third quarter and led 46-36 after three periods.

Sophomore forward Cynthia LeCompte and sophomore guard Jasey Campbell paced Blinn with eight points apiece.

Up next, Blinn will travel to Panola College for a region bout at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday in Carthage, Texas.
