BROTHER MARTIN HANDS CUB BASEBALL FIRST LOSS AT LOUISIANA TOURNAMENT
The Brenham Cub Baseball Team suffered their first loss of the season 5-3 to the Brother Martin Crusders last (Thursday) night at the Barbe-Sulphur Tournament in Louisiana.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the third inning when the Cubs jumped out to the early lead with a pair of runs. Ethan Aschenbeck reached on a two-out single, and Dalton Hart brought him home with an RBI double. Drake Bentke followed with an RBI double of his own, which scored Hart, and made it 2-0 Brenham.
The Crusaders cut the lead in half with a run in the fourth inning, and then they took the lead with four runs in the top of the fifth inning, which made it 5-2 Brother Martin.
The Cubs got one of the runs back in the bottom of the fifth inning. Brody Tucker singled, and Nate Rau came on as a courtesy runner. Rau later advanced to second on an error, stole third, and scored on an RBI single by Hart. That trimmed the lead to 5-3 Crusaders.
