#7 BLINN SOFTBALL FALLS TO ODESSA COLLEGE IN A WEEKEND DOUBLEHEADER
Story by Joe Alberico, Blinn College Sports Information
The No. 7 Blinn College softball team was unable to keep its offensive momentum going Saturday as the Buccaneers dropped a doubleheader to No. 16 Odessa College in Odessa, Texas.
Blinn fell 8-0 (5 inn.) in game one before falling short in 5-4 in the finale.
The Bucs are now 12-4 overall.
One day after racking up 39 hits and 27 runs in a sweep of Midland College, Blinn was unable to replicate that success against Odessa.
The Bucs were limited to four hits in the opener.
Sophomore pitcher Brynn Gallamore absorbed her first loss of the season after working 4 1/3 innings. She allowed seven runs (six earned) on just four hits while walking four Wranglers and striking out six. Sophomore
Kacie Dudensing entered with one out in the fifth frame and was charged with one earned run as Odessa put the run-rule into effect.
Blinn battled in game two with the help of a sixth-inning rally.
After the Wranglers built a 5-1 cushion, sophomore catcher Cadence Wiese kept up her hot two-day stretch with a three-run home run to center field in the sixth. Wiese hit three home runs during the sweep of Midland and finished with 13 RBIs in four games.
In the seventh, Blinn had a chance to tie after sophomore first baseman Daniela Lopez led off with a single. She advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt, but the Bucs were unable to move her any further as Odessa held on.
Blinn finished with seven hits from seven different players.
In the pitcher’s circle, sophomore Madisyn Bracknell worked six innings and fell to 3-2 on the year. She allowed all five runs (one earned) on seven hits with one walk while fanning five.
Up next, Blinn continues its stretch against formidable foes when it visits second-ranked Grayson College for a doubleheader beginning at noon on Wednesday, March 4, in Denison, Texas.
