to Computer Helpers.
Hundreds of people filled the Fireman’s Training Center to enjoy a catered rib-eye steak dinner, participate in prize drawings, and bid in auctions for various art pieces and CTE projects to support the Education Foundation and local students.
Preliminary figures from the Education Foundation show the event set a new record with $217,041 raised, not counting what was brought in from the drawings.
Education Foundation Board President Kyle Merten said the continued backing from supporters makes the foundation’s mission possible to help students and educators grow and thrive.
The full total includes approximately $125,235 from the live and silent auctions combined, plus more from donations and sponsorships.
The largest individual bids were for $6,000. The first was a collaborative piece, “150 Years of Cub Pride”, created by Alton Elementary School students and art teacher Haylee Wheaton, selling to Collier Construction. The second was a painting by Brenham High School senior Carnell Burns, “Wild Card”, selling to Computer Helpers. Burns also had the second highest-selling item of the night with another painting, “The Crossing”, which sold for $5,000 to Tiffany Morisak.
Proceeds support the Education Foundation in providing student scholarships and mini-grants for teachers, departments and campuses. They also raise money for local art and CTE students and programs.
