136TH BRENHAM MAIFEST KICK-OFF PICNIC WEDNESDAY
This (Wednesday) evening marks the official start of the 136th Brenham Maifest.
The Friends of Maifest Kick-off Picnic will be held tonight beginning at 6 p.m. at the Fireman’s Park pavilion. The picnic honors the sponsors and volunteers that make the festival possible each year, and it will include music, a children’s Maipole dance and a ribbon cutting.
KWHI will have a live broadcast from the picnic starting around 5:45 p.m. on AM 1280, FM 101.7 and kwhi.com.
The carnival opens tomorrow (Thursday) at Fireman’s Park and will be open each day through Saturday.
Tickets for the junior and senior coronation ceremonies on Friday and Saturday can be purchased at www.brenhammaifest.com. The senior coronation will be held on Friday at 7 p.m., while the junior coronation will be on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
The Junior Royalty of Kate Elizabeth Flisowski and Travis Michael Hopkins will reign over the court of “Safari: A Journey into the Wild!” The Senior Royalty of Stephanie Christina Donnell and Jadon Thomas Shipley will reign over the court of “Elegance in the Elements”.
The Maifest parade will travel through downtown Brenham on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. KWHI will have a live broadcast of the parade starting at 10:05 a.m. and will livestream it on Facebook. The broadcast is sponsored by Tres Chic Boutique.
Following the parade, the festival grounds at Fireman’s Park will open for music, dancing, beer tasting and games. Admission to the grounds is free.
This weekend’s live entertainment lineup features The Czechaholics and the Brown Sugar Band on Friday, with Saturday bringing Das Ist Lustig, Alli and The Polka Dots, Isaak Klaus and the Lederhosen Junkies, and 90 Proof Country.
