Association's memorial observance on Wednesday
at Fireman's Park. The event honors the lives of
peace officers who have died
over the past year.

The ceremony, held this year at Fireman’s Park in Brenham due to ongoing construction at the courthouse, pays tribute to the lives of personnel from police departments, sheriff’s offices, the Texas Department of Public Safety and other state agencies who have died in the last year.  The names of 25 officers were read during today’s observance.

The guest speaker was Washington County Sheriff Trey Holleway, who said law enforcement is not merely a job, but a calling.  He encouraged those in attendance to remember the names of those who have passed on as individuals each with their own families and their own stories.
