ACCIDENTS, 18-WHEELER FIRE AMONG CALLS FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

The Brenham Fire Department was called out four times on Tuesday and once early this (Wednesday) morning.

Shortly after 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, firefighters were dispatched to Kruse Village, 1700 East Stone Street, for an alarm sounding.  Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building.  It was determined that steam from a shower caused the alarm to go off, so the alarm was reset.

Just before 10:15 a.m., units went out to a transportation incident at West Lubbock Street and South Day Street.  There, they found a two-vehicle accident and helped EMS with patient care, returning to the station after the vehicles were removed from the roadway.

Another transportation incident was called in close to 6:45 p.m. at FM 389 and Highway 290 West.  The department located a two-vehicle accident with no injuries or fluids leaking.  Units cleared the call.

Approaching 7 p.m., BFD members responded to an alarm at the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South.  They determined it was a behavioral issue and reset the alarm.

Just after 2 a.m. today, personnel were dispatched to the 2200 block of Highway 290 East for a vehicle fire.  They found an 18-wheeler tractor with fire from the brake area.  The trailer was unhooked from the tractor, and firefighters used tank water to extinguish the fire.  The department returned to service once the tractor was removed from the roadway.
