INDUSTRIAL DEFEATS WASHINGTON COUNTY MAJOR GIRLS 4-1 TO WIN STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

While it was a much closer game, the result last (Monday) night ended up being the same, as Industrial defeated the Washington County Major Girls 4-1 to win the State Little League Championship at Diamonds at Daily in Rosenberg.

Both teams had to fight off a light rain that fell continuously throughout the game.

Industrial scored the first run of the ballgame in the bottom of the first inning. Georgia New drew a one-out walk, and she later came home on an RBI triple by Braelynn Eagles to make it 1-0.

Washington County tied it with a run in the top of the second inning. Caroline Sommer led it off with a walk, later scored on an RBI single by Emery Cienega to make it 1-1.

Industrial went in front for good in the bottom of the third inning. Isabella Marquez walked, and then scored on an RBI single by Elle Collins to take a 2-1 lead.

Industrial added two more insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to make it 4-1.

Cienega and Teagyn Wilson each had two hits to lead Washington County at the plate.
