BRENHAM FD RESPONDS MONDAY FOR FATAL CRASH, FIRE ALARMS

  

The Brenham Fire Department was called out four times on Monday.

Approaching 12:45 p.m., members of the Brenham Fire Department and Gay Hill Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to Highway 36 North and FM 390 East for a report of a transportation incident with entrapment and fire.  They arrived to find a two-vehicle accident, extinguished the vehicle fire and controlled the fuel spill.  No one was trapped, and EMS was already providing patient care.  Brenham units were released by fire command and returned to the city, while Gay Hill firefighters remained on location for the investigation of the crash, which was later determined to be fatal. 

A few minutes after 8 p.m., the Brenham department responded to Brenham High School, 525 A H Ehrig Drive, for a fire alarm.  Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building.  Firefighters entered and found a bad detector in an A/C duct, and they advised the key holder to have an alarm company come out and check the detector. 

Close to 9 p.m., units went out to a fire alarm at Kruse Village, 1700 East Stone Street.  They found nothing showing from the outside of the building and no signs of fire or smoke, so they reset the pull station before returning to service.

Shortly after 9 p.m., BFD members were called out for a report of smoke in the area of the 200 block of Edwards Street.  They found a homeowner burning in the backyard.  The homeowner extinguished the fire, and units cleared the call.
