The goal of the TMIR program is to support Texas music venues and music festival promoters by reimbursing eligible businesses for certain state taxes paid on alcoholic beverage sales.

Recipients can use the funding to reinvest into venue operations, recruit artists, and improve production to enhance audience experiences.  Up to $100,000 can be awarded per applicant.

The Barnhill Center intends to seek a rebate for $90,315 to cover a new LED wall and trim kit, along with improved theatre acoustics.

Applications are open September 1-30.  Funding determinations will be made starting in February.

Also at the meeting, board members received a report on concerts, facility rentals, future rentals, a minor roof leak that occurred after the new roof was installed and has now been fixed, a preliminary building assessment report of what the building’s needs are, and a partner and advertiser campaign update for prospective businesses.
