BRENHAM ISD ANNOUNCES 151ST ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION & DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI HONOREES
Brenham ISD will celebrate its 151st anniversary and recognize esteemed graduates at its upcoming Distinguished Alumni Luncheon.
The event will be held on Friday, September 4th at the Blinn College Student Center, beginning at noon. The luncheon serves as one of Brenham ISD’s signature annual celebrations, paying tribute to the district’s history that dates back to 1875 while also honoring graduates whose lives, careers and service exemplify the district’s values and traditions.
This year’s Distinguished Alumni honorees include:
- Bonnie Brinkmeyer (Brenham High School Class of 1975), retired Brenham ISD teacher and administrator, community volunteer, and current Brenham ISD trustee.
- Mack Williams (Pickard High School Class of 1967), the first male nurse in Washington County, musician, and member of the Washington County Historical Juneteenth Association.
- James Emerson Dennis Jr. (Pickard High School Class of 1953, posthumous), professor, U.S. Air Force veteran, deacon at Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church, and Freedom Rider for African American civil rights.
- Dr. William “Bill” Seeker (Brenham High School Class of 1956, posthumous), U.S. Army veteran and president for 28 years at the College of the Florida Keys.
Brenham ISD Superintendent Clay Gillentine says each year, the distinguished alumni celebration serves as a reminder that the impact of a Brenham ISD education extends far beyond the classroom. He says, “This year's honorees have each demonstrated extraordinary leadership, service, and dedication throughout their lives. Their accomplishments reflect the values of Brenham ISD and serve as an inspiration to our current students as they begin writing their own stories.”
Tickets to the luncheon are $35 per person and are now available for purchase. Seating is limited, so guests are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance.
Brenham ISD says it will share additional information in the coming weeks about the event, ticket purchases, and detailed biographies of this year’s honorees.
