Brenham ISD athletics.

Board members from Run for the Youth of Washington County, the organization that puts on the Blue Bell Fun Run each spring, presented the school board with a donation totaling $130,350.  The funds will go directly to school athletic programs and expand resources available to support student participation, development and program needs.

Joe Robertson, president of Run for the Youth of Washington County, said the 48th Annual Blue Bell Fun Run this past March drew approximately 4,657 registered runners.  Robertson said the success of the run would not be possible without the board of directors, race directors and race day volunteers, many of which come from Brenham ISD.  He added that it “truly takes a community effort.”

Trustees were also presented a $10,000 donation from Viridien, the company leading the high-performance computing (HPC) center project on Longwood Drive, in partnership with the Brenham ISD Education Foundation.  The donation is designated for the purchase of Chromebooks, required software licenses and related technology that supports student participation in robotics.

HPC Data Center Manager Daniel Buchino said the company is very proud to be a partner with the Brenham community and looks forward to a long-standing, positive relationship that will have a great influence on Brenham ISD students.
