The Brenham Cub Football Team picked up right where they left off last week as they went on to defeat the Richmond Tomas Gators 58-7 last (Thursday) night at the brand-spanking new Paul Scherer Memorial Stadium in Richmond.

Ledrick Walker Jr. got it started as he ran the opening kickoff back 93 yards for the first touchdown of the game. Bleu Cienega kicked the extra point to give Brenham the early 7-0 lead.

The Cubs' first offensive drive ended with a two-yard touchdown run by Roland Branch Jr. Then, Brenham decided to go for the two-point conversion, which was scored on a run by Nate Rau. That put the Cubs ahead 15-0 with 5:45 left in the first quarter.

Brenham would later add a third touchdown in the first quarter on a 21-yard pass from Branch to Rau. Then, the Cubs went for two again, and they scored on a run by C.J. Glover. That increased the Brenham lead to 23-0 at the 1:45 mark.

On the next drive, Branch connected with Rau on their second touchdown pass of the evening. This one was a ten-yard score. Cienega kicked the extra point, which extended the Cubs' lead to 37-0 with 3:13 to go in the second quarter.

Brenham managed to get one more scoring opportunity before the break as Branch found C.J. Glover on a three-yard touchdown pass. Another Cienega extra point made it 44-0, Cubs with ten seconds left in the half.

Richmond Tomas finally found their way onto the scoreboard as Sam Johnson took the next kickoff and ran it back 102-yards for a Gator touchdown as time expired. Joseph Monge kicked the extra point, and that made it a 44-7 game.

In the third quarter, Brenham would reach the end zone two more times. Branch continued his air assault with a 35-yard strike to Jaden Nickerson. Cienega added another extra point to make it 51-7 at the 7:28 mark.
