NEXT BRENHAM POLICE ACADEMY TO BEGIN FEB. 7TH
The Brenham Police Department is taking applications for their next Citizens Police Academy.
The program is designed to allow people to meet and interact with police officers, and educate citizens about law enforcement.
Participants can tour different facilities, participate in hands-on demonstrations, and ride with officers during a normal patrol shift.
The Academy begins on Thursday, February 7th at 6:30 p.m., at the Brenham Police Department. The Academy class will take place every Thursday from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., excluding the week of Spring Break. The last class will be on April 25th, with a graduation ceremony and dinner on May 9th.
Classes are free of charge, open to anyone above the age of 17 who lives in Washington County.
Sergeant Todd Ashorn says there are no height or weight requirements, or physical agility tests required to pass. All police are looking for is people who want to learn about the inner workings of the police department.
Anyone interested can go online to https://cityofbrenham.org, select Citizens Police Academy Online Registration, and select the cart to check out and continue registration. Applications can also be picked up at the Brenham Police Department, at 1800 Longwood Drive. The deadline to apply is February 4th.
