A Burton High School student has been named to the Texas All-State Band. Jessica Villarreal, a member of the Burton High School Panther Band, and daughter of Gloria Cosino of Burton, was selected as a member of the All-State Concert Band. She was chosen for the honor in competitive auditions held this year across the state at region and area levels. Jessica plays the alto saxophone at school under the direction of Larry Silcox, Burton Band Director. This is her first time to perform as a member of the ATSSB All-State Band. She is also involved in yearbook, the beta club, bowing, and was a member of this year’s Homecoming Court at Burton High School.
Jessica will perform with the All-State Concert Band in San Antonio Saturday, February 16, at the Lila Cockrall Theatre of the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center.
Congratulations! This is quite an honor. Literally thousands of student musicians start the process in October but only a couple hundred make the final cut. Have a great time in San Antonio. How ‘bout it, Burton- how many seats can we fill at Lila Cockrell for the concert on February 16th?
Congratulations! Hard work and dedication goes a long way! So proud you.
