DEPUTIES CONFISCATE DRUGS, FIREARMS IN BRENHAM ARREST

  

A Houston man was arrested in Brenham early Monday morning, after authorities discovered drugs and firearms in his vehicle.

At approximately 1:15 a.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies stopped a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the 8900 block of U.S. 290 East.  Authorities detected an odor of marijuana from inside the vehicle, and conducted a probable cause search.

Deputies located a variety of narcotics as well as an assortment of weapons, all of which were seized as evidence.

The driver, 25-year-old Myles Ray Simmons of Houston, was taken to the Washington County Jail, charged with Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Marijuana.  He is currently out on bonds totaling $13,500.
