A&M: NO TOBACCO ON CAMPUS AS OF JANUARY FIRST
Officials at Texas A&M confirmed Tuesday, all of the system’s campuses will become tobacco-free as of New Year’s Day.
A&M President Michael K. Young issued a press release confirming that A&M will become a smoke-free and tobacco-free campus effective January 1st, 2020.
The initiative is in compliance with recommendations and requests from The A&M System Board of Regents.
Young says the decision reflects efforts concerning the health and well-being of students, faculty, staff, and visitors on the campus.
On Oct. 1, the A&M System instituted a ban on vaping and e-cigarettes across all 11 universities and eight state agencies within the System.
The January 1st policy additionally bans cigarettes, cigars, pipes, hookahs, and water pipes, smokeless tobacco including chew and snuff, and all other nicotine and/or tobacco delivery products.
