NAME, FURTHER DETAILS RELEASED ON SUSPECT ARRESTED AFTER THEFT, CHASE IN BRENHAM
Authorities have released the name and mugshot of a Brenham woman arrested Tuesday, after they say she led DPS troopers on a chase following a theft report at the Brenham Walmart.
(Washington Co. Jail)
38-year-old Hannah Keppers was arrested after authorities responded to a theft call to the store shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
According to DPS Sergeant Jimmy Morgan, Keppers fled the store’s parking lot in a stolen vehicle. After a brief chase, her vehicle crashed into an overpass support at the intersection of the Highway 290 East feeder road and South Chappell Hill Street.
No troopers were injured in the pursuit, but Keppers did sustain minor injuries in the crash. She received medical treatment before being taken to the Washington County Jail, where she was charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Keppers remains in custody on $75,000 bond.
I would like to see some type of charge for endangering the public given to her because of the people who were put at risk during the car chase and then he hits a support for a bridge on a major road. Her alleged actions put many others at risk and we as a public need to show our resolve not to allow this type of thing in our community.
Good idea
I think that’s where the evading charge comes in. A normal evading charge is a Class A misdemeanor, but evading in a car is a felony.
