The Burton Bridge Ministry continues to provide services where it can to those in the community affected by COVID-19.

Through providing and delivering food and groceries, along with making masks to distribute to others, the ministry is serving as a valuable resource to many in the Burton area.

Burton Bridge Ministry Executive Director Susie Tommaney said mask making has been at the forefront of the ministry’s efforts, and mask materials and volunteers are still greatly needed.  She also said there is a need for people to help cook meals for tomorrow’s (Friday) senior meal drive-thru, running from noon to 12:30 p.m., as well as to assist with tomorrow’s mobile food pantry, lasting from 10 a.m. to noon.

Information is available online at www.burtonbridgeministry.org on how to sign up for the weekly meal drive-thru and the monthly food pantry.  Homebound meals are delivered each Friday from 11:30 a.m. to noon.

Tommaney said another way the ministry is assisting residents is a grocery delivery system to bring food and select medications to their homes.

For safety reasons, the Burton Bridge Ministry had to close The Corner Shoppe, which Tommaney said was a big income driver for the ministry.  However, the ministry has received a great deal of support from the Brazos Valley COVID-19 Community Relief Fund and community donors.  Tommaney said she is grateful for all the help received.
