ROUND TOP-CARMINE ISD ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR FREE, REDUCED-PRICE MEALS
Round Top-Carmine ISD (RTC) has announced its policy for providing students with free and reduced-price meals for the upcoming school year.
Beginning on August 24th, the school district will begin sending out letters to households in the district regarding eligibility benefits and any actions they need to take to apply for benefits.
The criteria that will be used to determine a child’s eligibility for the free and reduced-price meal benefits include a child’s status as a foster, homeless, runaway, migrant, or displaced by a declared disaster, as well as their enrollment in the Head Start or Pre-K Even Start programs. Children will also qualify if their household receives assistance from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Food Distribution Program for Households on Indian Reservations (FDPIR), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), or Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Woman, Infants, and Children (WIC).
Households can also qualify for free and reduced-price meals based on income and will need to fill out a free application providing personal information and income.
The district is working with local agencies to identify all children who are categorically and program eligible and will notify the households of the children that do not need to complete the application.
Applications can be submitted at any time during the school year based on changes and unexpected circumstances.
Applications can be picked up and returned to school district secretary Linda McCulloch at 608 North Washington Street in Round Top. The application can also be downloaded at rtcisd.net.
