WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS APPROVE CONTRACT WITH BRENHAM HERITAGE MUSEUM

Washington County Commissioners approved a community service contract between the county and the Brenham Heritage Museum at their meeting today (Tuesday).

Washington Extension Education Association President Susanne Kessler presents a check totaling $82,796 to Washington County Judge John Durrenberger at Tuesday's meeting of Washington County Commissioners Court.
Commissioners proclaimed October 4-10 as Texas Extension Education Week.

The contract requires the county to administer and annually provide $2,000 to the museum for the preservation and display of Washington County heritage.

Commissioner Candice Bullock said the amount being provided has increased $500 from the county’s previous contract with the museum.  She said the extra funding will be used by the museum for its summer programs for children.

Also at today’s meeting, commissioners proclaimed October 4-10 as Texas Extension Education Week in Washington County.  Before the proclamation, Washington Extension Education Association (WEEA) President Susanne Kessler presented the county with a check amounting to $82,796, representing the donation of time WEEA members have spent educating local citizens.

WEEA has been around since 1928 and works through the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service to strengthen and enrich families through educational programs, leadership development, and community service.
