Just before 1:00 a.m., Brenham and Berlin firefighters were called to the 1500 block of Pecan Glen Rd., just off FM-389.

Due to high winds, fire departments from Burton, Salem, Latium, Meyersville and Chappell Hill were called to assist with the blaze.

According to Berlin Volunteer Fire Chief Mike McAnally, it took firefighters approximately three hours to extinguish the fire.  A possible cause of the fire was electrical related to a microwave oven.

The house has major damage and the cause remains under investigation.

Then, just before 5:00 this morning, a structure fire was reported in the 300 block of Lacey Lane.

On arrival firefighters found a fire in the rear of the house.  The department used a hose line to extinguish the fire.  Heavy smoke damage was reported to the home.

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
