BLUEBONNET FESTIVAL DRAWS HISTORIC CROWDS
Organizers of the Bluebonnet Festival in Chappell Hill say this year’s event was one of the largest in the festival’s history.
Joel Romo, current volunteer and past president of the Chappell Hill Historical Society, estimates at least 10,000 people arrived on Saturday, with another 5,000 to 7,000 guests on Sunday, to enjoy live music and shop from hundreds of vendors in downtown Chappell Hill.
Romo says this year’s event “couldn’t have gone any better,” and believes it far surpassed the attendance totals of previous festivals.
Romo says the festival is one of the largest generators of sales tax and hotel occupancy tax revenue for Washington County.
Romo thanks the county, festival sponsors and volunteers for supporting the event and helping to make it a success.
Sounds like a successful festival. I’m concerned about the traffic!!! It is creating. This little town cannot handle 10,000 people. The traffic is a nightmare and has become a public nuisance. The historical society needs to take action and explore parking solutions soon. Medical vehicles would not be able to get to outlying areas if needed. Traffic on 290 was backed up to the brazos river and FM 2447 was solid. The parking logistics don’t exist, wake up and make a plan please.
I agree. Perhaps someone could create a parking area with a shuttle service…
