WASHINGTON CO. FIREFIGHTERS EXTINGUISH SEVERAL SMALL GRASS FIRES SUNDAY

Washington County firefighters were kept busy Sunday with several midday grassfires.

The first fire was reported shortly after 11:15 a.m. on Miss Lucy Lane and was handled by the Brenham Fire Department and Prairie Hill Volunteer Fire Department.

Another fire was called in just before noon on Old Chappell Hill Road, requiring aid from the Brenham Fire Department and Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department.

Brenham and Berlin firefighters then extinguished a third fire shortly before 2 p.m. on Lola Lane.

The Brenham Fire Department says each of the fires were less than 0.25 acres and were caused by controlled burns that got out of hand due to wind and dry conditions.

No injuries or major damage resulted from the fires.
