PLAYOFF PREVIEW: BRENHAM CUBETTES VS. KINGWOOD PARK

The Brenham Cubette Softball Team opens their Region Quarterfinal series against Kingwood Park later tonight. First pitch is scheduled for 7pm at Jordan High School in Katy/Fulshear. Craig Montana and Dan Jurden will have the call of the action beginning with the pregame at 6:30pm on the Sports Alternate feed at KWHI.com and on the KWHI app.
The Cubettes are 26-9-2 on the season. They finished tied for the number two seed out of District 19-5A, and beat A&M Consolidated in a one game playoff to go into the playoffs with the number two seed.

Brenham then went on to beat New Caney in the Bi-District Round. New Caney won the first game 5-4. However, the Cubettes came back to win the second game 3-1, and the third game 3-2.
Last week, Brenham won the Area Round with a two game sweep over Elgin 9-0, in a game that featured a no-hitter by Della Jasinski, and 3-2.
The Cubettes are coached by former Brenham Cubette Katie Roberts, who has been at the helm for five years. She was also just recently named as the BHS Girls Athletic Coordinator.
The Kingwood Park Lady Panthers are the second place team out of District 20-5A. They are 26-12 overall. They finished 12-2 in their district with the only losses coming to the undefeated first place team Montgomery Lake Creek.
Kingwood Park opened the Bi-District Round by taking two out of three games from A&M Consolidated. Kingwood Park won the first game at 6-2. A&M Consolidated won the second game 16-3. The Lady Panthers then came back and won the third and deciding game 5-3.
In the Area Round, Kingwood Park beat Bastrop in a one game playoff 11-0.
The Lady Panthers are coached by Kelsie McEachern. She is a second generation coach. Her father is Mike McEachern, the Head Football Coach and Athletic Director at Huffman Hargrave High School.
Game Two of the series will be Saturday at 4pm at Jordan High School. If there is a third game for either the Brenham Cubs or the Burton Panthers playoff series, then this game will start on the Sports Alternate feed, and then move to the radio when the baseball broadcast finishes. If there is no baseball game on Saturday, then the broadcast will start on the radio. Tommy Lange and I will have the call.
If there is a third game, it will follow thirty minutes after Game Two.
The winner moves on to face the winner of the series between Santa Fe and Richmond Foster in the Region Semifinals.
