Shekere, a seven-piece band from Houston, energized crowds Saturday night with a mix of English and Latin pop that made sure everybody was out of their seat and dancing in the street.

The Stray Katz Car Club was on hand to showcase its popular car cruise-in along Alamo Street, and there was plenty of food and drink to go around via local businesses and vendors.  The local musician series on the Alamo Alley stage featured a performance from Ryann Elise.

Shekere’s concert was sponsored by BRIANNAS Fine Salad Dressings, Las Americas Latin Cuisine, Deep in the Heart Farms and RCR Rail Co.

This Saturday, July 29th will be the conclusion of “Hot Nights, Cool Tunes” and will have the hits of the ‘80s with The Spicolis, a classic MTV tribute band out of Houston.  They are sponsored by Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union, Brannon Industrial Group, Strand Associates and Upchurch Yates Law Firm.

The music series in Alamo Alley will host Gary Durrenberger and his sincere, soulful tunes from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and during The Spicolis’ first intermission.  This week’s concert will also have “Hot Nights, Cold Brews”, a craft beer tasting event with the Zythological Society of North America from 6 to 9 p.m. at Ant Street Inn.
