BRENHAM, BURTON ISDs AWARE OF THREATS MADE BY ‘ALLEGED RUSSIAN TERRORIST’ TO OTHER SCHOOLS
Brenham and Burton ISDs issued an alert today (Friday) to parents and staff members regarding threatening emails sent to other school districts in Texas by “an alleged Russian terrorist”.
The two districts said they themselves did not receive the threat, but some surrounding districts did.
Dozens of schools across the state have reportedly received emails claiming to come from a Russian terrorist organization threatening violence at 1 p.m. today.
According to multiple published reports, the threats were not deemed credible, and most districts resumed business as normal. However, some opted to release students early or cancel after-school activities as a precaution.
The notices from Brenham and Burton ISDs said both districts’ safety and security teams are fully informed, and they are “actively monitoring the situation and collaborating with local authorities to ensure the ongoing safety of our schools.” No other changes to operations today were announced.
