WASHINGTON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO MEET ON TUESDAY

The Washington County Commissioners will be meeting in special session Tuesday morning to discuss several items.

One of the items is a Memorandum of Understanding between Washington County and the Volunteer Fire Departments for Fire Protection Services in the county.

The Commissioners held a previous workshop with leaders representing the 11 different volunteer fire departments.

One of the discussions was regarding the volunteer fire departments possibly entering into an emergency service district, and when they would be terminated from the MOU and the county’s compensation plan.

The Chappell Hill and Meyersville Volunteer Fire Departments proposed entering into an emergency service district back in a December.

The other discussion at the workshop revolved around having members of each department present an itemized annual operating budget report in March, and giving the court time to review it before they begin the annual budgeting process.

This would give the commissioners more time to determine what each department’s need is.

Other items on Tuesday’s agenda include annual maintenance contracts for the boiler at the Washington County Jail, a contract for participation in the Texas Emergency Services Retirement System on behalf of the Washington County Firefighter’s Association, and authorizing bids for an equipment shed.

The Washington County Commissioners Court meets Tuesday at 9am in their chambers at the Washington County Courthouse.
