POLICE VEHICLE BUILDER OPENING LOCATION IN SNOOK AREA

A police vehicle builder has announced plans to move to the Snook area.

Dana Safety Supply, based out of North Carolina, will move into the building that currently houses a FedEx service center on FM 50.  This will be the company’s sixth location in Texas.

The company focuses on building and providing vehicles for law enforcement and emergency response, along with distributing equipment and gear used by law enforcement agencies.

The business says the new facility works well as a centralized site between its locations in Houston and Round Rock.  Dana Safety Supply President and CEO David Russo says, “With so much ground to cover [in Texas], we’ve always felt that ‘closer is better’ when it comes to assets.”

The facility will have around 14,000 square feet of shop and warehouse space on four and a half acres, and will have enough space for over 600 vehicles.  The company plans to hire 15 emergency vehicle technicians.

Dana Safety Supply is familiar with the area, as they are partners with Operation Safe Shield, a nonprofit organization that raises funds to equip law enforcement vehicles in the Bryan/College Station region with bullet resistant windows and windshields.

Chuck Geocaris, Dana Safety Supply’s regional general manager over Texas, told the Burleson County Tribune that the company recently finalized the lease of the new facility and will take possession on Monday, April 1st.  He said he expects the location will be fully operational in mid-April and will hold a grand opening in early May.
