INDEPENDENCE GETTING READY FOR 4TH OF JULY FESTIVITIES
The town of Independence will soon celebrate the 4th of July with a host of Independence Day activities.
The fun in downtown Independence begins with a trail ride at 2 p.m., followed by a parade at 5 p.m.
There will also be a street dance that evening, with live music performed by the Risky Liver Band.
A fireworks display will close out the night at 9 p.m.
In addition, a live auction will be held during the street dance at around 7:30 p.m. Some featured items include tickets to upcoming Astros and Texas A&M Aggie games, and a handcrafted t-shirt blanket and teddy bear.
Proceeds go toward the restoration of the Independence School House and future community events.
