BRENHAM FIRE DEPT. RESPONDS FRIDAY TO CRASH WITH ENTRAPMENT, BOMB THREAT
One person was transported after an accident midday Friday in Brenham.
At noon, the Brenham Fire Department responded to a crash with entrapment in the 2700 block of South Chappell Hill Street. Units made location and found a two-vehicle crash with one patient still inside. They used cutters and spreaders to gain access to the patient and removed the passenger side door. Firefighters then helped EMS with removal of the patient, who was transported from the scene for treatment of unknown injuries. The department then provided traffic control until Brenham police cleared them from the call.
Firefighters were called around 2 p.m. to a possible bomb threat at Whataburger, 2801 Highway 36 South. They stood by while Brenham police checked the area. After the all-clear was given, police released the fire department from the scene.
BFD personnel were dispatched for two fire alarms on Friday. One was at 1:45 p.m. at Krause Elementary School, 2201 East Stone Street, where it was found that a microwave caused the alarm to go off. The microwave was removed and the alarm was reset.
The second alarm came in at 2 p.m. at the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South. Dispatch advised that the department could cancel, as proper code was received from the alarm company.
Around 4:15 a.m. this (Saturday) morning, units went out to another fire alarm, this one at Brenham High School, 525 AH Ehrig Drive. They arrived and found the alarm going off in the field house, but it was ultimately a bad smoke detector, so they cleared the scene and returned to service.
