Burton Cross Country (Kurt Ramsey)

The Burton Panthers continued their run towards District with a Saturday morning meet in Houston.  The Panthers tested themselves against schools from across Houston at the Kardia Academy Invitational.  The tree lined course proved to be a great one for the Panthers as the men finished 3rd as a team and the women followed up with their first team victory of the season.

The men raced first and were led by Devlin Douglas (Jr.) who placed 2nd overall in the men's 5k race.  Joining him on the medal stand were Zach Purvis (Fr.) and Jackson Morey (Sr.) with a 10th and 12th place finish respectively.  Also running for the Panthers and contributing to their 3rd place team finish were Andrew Gonzales (Fr.), Hunter Duffy (Jr.), and Mason Helton (So.)

The women raced second, competing in the two mile race.  The Panthers were led by fellow seniors Peyton Sigsbee and Reagon Roemer, whose one-two finish gave the Panthers an unassailable team lead.  Also contributing to the team score were Avery Applewhite (Sr.), Abby Dowling (Jr.), and Kara Landriault (So.) with 4th, 8th, and 10th place finishes.  All the women medaled for the day including Kelsie Holt (Sr.), Autumn Applewhite (Fr.) and Avery Lamson (So.)

The Panthers race again on Thursday, September 19th.  They travel to Temple for the Bronco Invitational at Crossroads Park.  The women race first at 9am with the men to follow.
