LLOYD SAUNDERS MEMORIAL COOK-OFF OCT. 12 AT WASHINGTON CO. EXPO

The annual Lloyd Saunders Memorial Cook-off returns next Saturday to the Washington County Expo.

Each year, proceeds from the cook-off go to the Lloyd Saunders Memorial Scholarship Program, supporting past participants in the Washington County Fair calf scramble.  This year’s event is honoring longtime event supporter Stanley Klekar.

Activities for the cook-off on October 12th will include competitions for chili, beans, margaritas, Bloody Mary’s and chef’s choice.  Judging begins at 11 a.m. and will take place throughout the day.

A sanctioned cornhole tournament will start at 1 p.m., and a live auction is set to begin around 5:30 p.m.  There will also be a 50/50 drawing, a card draw for a gun, and live music from a DJ.

Entry is $20 per category, and participants can sign up the morning of the event.  Cash prizes and plaques will go to the top entries.
